Tod // The Lost Tapes of '82

by Tod

/

about

My neighbor Tod recorded a handful of songs when he first moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 1982, this song being one of them.

Being born and raised in Australia, Tod was submersed in hard rock and kangaroos. At the age of 22 Tod discovered bands like Fairport Convention, Moby Grape, Michael Chapman, Heron, and Iain Matthews, just to name a few. Inspired by the sounds of the west, Tod packed up his things and headed to Los Angeles. Soon after getting settled Tod realized that the bands he had discovered had either since broken up or were actually from England. Los Angeles in the summer of 1892 was all hair metal and punk, Tod was crushed. In this sorrow Tod picked up his guitar and laid down some demos on his Fostex Model 250 4-Track. This is one of those demos.
Tod lives in the same house he moved into in the summer of '82, he is 63 years old and graciously lended me these tapes to immortalize via the Internet.

Slugger Records is proud to present, Tod.

lyrics

I don't feel so far away from me today
Or yesterday
I'm just feeling so at home with you today
And every day

A smile finds it's way to everyone you meet
It found me
The darkest corners of every street don't seem
So bleak

I'm just feeling so at home with you today
And yesterday
Troubled minds are hard to mend these days but you
You found a way

A smile finds it's way to everyone you meet
It found me
I'm picking flowers on the brightest streets these days
These days
